Southampton fans are always excited about the idea of witnessing Premier League talents in action at St. Mary's. Currently, that top-flight star could be Largie Ramazani but coincidentally, securing his signature might mean fending off competition from Russell Martin's Rangers.

Southampton fans are known to shower their never-fading support on their former players, staff as well and even some awful St. Mary's performers, too. Without a shadow of doubt, these are classy fan gestures whether that be uplifting the squad's declining confidence from time to time or hoping for ex-boss Russell Martin to get hold of their once preferred summer reinforcement.

However, let's not forget that the transfer window is still open and there are always chances of going toe-to-toe with familiar faces for a particular signing. As you may have guessed by now, Martin and Southampton's board are heading towards a transfer tug-of-war at a time when both teams are making rapid strides in terms of incomings.

So, where are their paths colliding? The front three and most notably, the wide attacking position where the Football League World believes both the Saints as well as the Ibrox outfit will demand more helping hands.

Southampton and Martin vying for Ramazani to bolster squad depth

Coming to the player in question, that's Premier League bound Largie Ramazani. Agreed, the Saints don't hold much negotiating power here because if Ramazani was given an unbiased pick on paper, he would most likely nod to the top-flight lure at Rangers.

But it's not game over for the Saints, who must take a leaf out of Martin's strategy to pursue direct loans without any buying commitments. This cost-saving approach could get them a new winger to then try experimenting in their form-deprived attacking ranks.

Even if Ramazani doesn't stand out, at least Edozie or Robinson will benefit from a decent competition which is a plus point for the Saints chiefs.
