Shameful Jan Bednarek offer must encourage Southampton to leave negotiations

Trabzonspor try lowball negotiations with Southampton for a €3-4m offer for Jan Bednarek that the Saints mustn't even consider seriously.

In all honesty, despite many offers arriving for Southampton recently, the most talked about one has been Trabzonspor's Paul Onuachu's offer. And it has been so for all the wrong reasons.

But, truth be told, this defines how Onuachu's Turkish clubs' saga has been. Still, while this falls on the forward's part, the Super Lig clubs are also to blame.

Time and again, these clubs, especially Trabzonspor, have shown reluctance despite a transfer interest, forcing Southampton to its limits. And to the Saints' misfortune, Onuachu's ex-club is here to do it again, this time for Jan Bednarek.

While initially, Turkish giants Besiktas had shown interest in forcing off Bednarek's transfer by activating his release clause, now it's Trabzonspor who has come asking for him. But again they've resorted to annoying lowball tactics.

As per Gunebakis(via Inside Futbol), the club slipped in an offer for Jan Bednarek amidst Onuachu's transfer talks. Unsurprisingly, despite Bednarek's release clause being £6m, Trabzonspor has barged in asking for the defender at around €4m.

Southampton must not even consider Bednarek's Trabzonspor move

Honestly, while this offer worth half the fee required is outright frustrating for Southampton, it's quite shameful too. Especially, given that it's for the former Saints captain and defensive leader, Jan Bednarek.

First of all, having been a veteran English top-flight defender, Bednarek's transfer to Super Lig feels off straightaway. And to make matters worse, Trabzonspor’s irritating offer just adds insult to injury.

But, unlike previous times, Southampton must channel their frustration into firm, conclusive action. It may sound harsh, yet, the Saints must leave any negotiations with Trabzonspor then and there.

Despite turning 30 next year, Southampton are guaranteed to have no scarcity of offers for Jan Bednarek. Needless to say, the Saints mustn’t even entertain such a bid when other clubs would easily pay double or triple that amount.

Clearly, the active clause has endangered Southampton's transfer stance on Jan Bednarek. Still, the Saints must be very clear, that if a club comes with an offer below the mentioned fee by even a dime, they move on.
