There were so many standout performers last season for Southampton.
In the end, Taylor Harwood-Bellis would be voted the Saints' Player of the Campaign - in the eyes of Daily Echo readers - and the battling centre-back is a worthy recipient of this accolade, as he did score seven goals last season, while completing all his dirty work valiantly.
There is an argument that Shea Charles could have been in the running for this top award, as the Manchester-born midfielder was a classy performer all campaign long, all while having a vital strike up his sleeve.
He is very unlikely to be a Southampton player next season, as the Saints pick up the pieces from the Spygate drama, with the Northern Ireland international being looked at by a boatload of Premier League suitors, unsurprisingly.
Charles looks Premier League -bound
The in-demand number 22 might previously be a product of the illustrious Manchester City academy, but he could pulling on Manchester United's famous red jersey next season, if new transfer rumours are to be believed.
Indeed, it has been reported that Michael Carrick and Co. are weighing up a move for Charles this summer as they undergo a makeover of their midfield, with a £25m price tag allegedly above the one-time Sheffield Wednesday loanee's head.
Being eyed up by Vitor Pereira's Nottingham Forest, as well, the 22-year-old looks Premier League- bound this summer, and after such an elegant season from the middle of the park for Tonda Eckert's men, it would be a deserved jump up a division for Charles.
The South Coast outfit would likely fall back on the likes of Flynn Downes and Cameron Bragg if Charles were to move on from Southampton, with the Scotsman ready for a breakout campaign.
They also have this very promising starlet in the U21 set-up who could be ready for his own breakthrough moment, as a new Charles is potentially born.
Southampton could have a new Charles in the making
Bragg would be afforded 16 outings in the Southampton first team picture last season, having had to be very patient to break into the first team picture.
Barnaby Williams will be praying his moment to impress in the spotlight comes soon, with the 19-year-old named twice on the bench in league action under Eckert, alongside being afforded a full 45-minute runout under the German against Sheffield Wednesday as the Saints resoundingly beat the Owls 3-1.
It wasn't a spectacular cameo by the 19-year-old by any stretch of the imagination, but he did demonstrate a calmness, matched by a willingness to get stuck in, that is similar to the varied game of Charles.
Indeed, he would only misplace two of his 13 passes on a nervy occasion for the number 53, while also winning a determined three duels, and successfully launching himself into two tackles.
Despite such a promising runout, no further minutes have come his way in the first team fold, but if Charles' success story is anything to go by, being patient eventually reaps its rewards.
He would even have to leave the Saints for a season, as he was chucked out on loan to Wednesday, before being a fully fledged member of the first team Eckert knew he could depend on. Like Williams, too, he was only afforded scraps here and there at City when trying to cut his teeth as a teenage talent.
It has all worked out for Charles now, as he looks on the brink of a mega money Premier League switch.
For Williams, the aim will be to take the Saints' first team by storm in a similar fashion to the 22-year-old, with the 19-year-old noted as having "undoubted potential" by Director of Group Talent Strategy Andy Goldie, when penning a new senior contract on the South Coast until 2029, back in March.
Come 2029, the number 53 could be the next stylish midfielder set for a big move, like Charles, or he could be a key part of Southampton being in the Premier League.
