So the phone is ringing again for one of Southampton's forgotten men. Pete O'Rourke reported on the 6th August that Saints face a scramble to keep hold of Sam Edozie this month.
Paderborn, freshly back in the Bundesliga, have made an enquiry. FC Copenhagen have too, and they can wave Conference League football under his nose.
A handful of Championship clubs are watching from a distance, though none have made contact yet. Edozie has a year left on his deal, which is why everyone has suddenly remembered his name.

Let's be clear about the stage this is at. Nobody has tabled a bid, and O'Rourke's wording points to interest, nothing close to a done deal.
Edozie is 23 and still carries that Manchester City academy sheen. He barely played last season until February, and his FotMob profile shows just two starts across the whole Championship campaign.
Zero goals and two assists from 295 minutes. Hardly the profile of a lad clubs go to the wall for, is it?
Then again, cast your mind back to his Anderlecht loan. Eight goal contributions in the Belgian top flight, back when he was actually playing week in, week out.
The bit Saints should think hard about
Here is where it gets awkward. Saints Marching argued in May that Edozie's next steps were obvious, and cashing in wasn't one of them.
The reasoning was simple. Southampton didn't go up, so they have to think about the here and now, and a fit, motivated Edozie is worth keeping.
His return last spring also lined up with a strong run of results. It was noted in December that Saints might have their best winger back under the radar.
He runs at pace and can fill in on either flank. The catch is Lewis Dobbin.
Dobbin's summer arrival hands Eckert cover right across the front line. Edozie has slipped down the order behind Scienza, Fellows and the new man, as The72 also noted.
He hasn't sounded like someone itching to leave, mind. On Instagram he called last season "difficult" and pledged himself to the cause.
"Next season is a new opportunity. I'll be ready," he wrote.
So what's the read? Selling a 23-year-old with this much talent for a knockdown fee would be a gamble, even with the flanks looking crowded.
Verdict:Â 3/5. A sensible fee makes sense given the depth out wide, but Saints would be selling low on a player they clearly rate.
Likelihood:Â 2/5. These are enquiries only from Paderborn and Copenhagen, no bid on the table, and a credible reporter behind it without top-tier certainty.
Cash in well and few Saints fans will grumble. Let him go on the cheap, though, and this is one they might come to miss.
