Southampton fans given brutal transfer reality check for ageing striker

Currently, Southampton have been lagging behind their competitors while approaching striker targets and the recent updates hint that miserable form could be prolonged further.

Strikers are one of the most crucial positions to fill in football and yesterday, Southampton fans learned that lesson the hard way. But the bigger picture isn't only about messing up one forward signing, instead it's about getting three frontmen who are yet to replicate their best scoring form at St. Mary's.

Regarding Adam Armstrong and Ben Brereton Diaz, the Saints know that loan deals are going to be the only escape routes that usually come into play during the final weeks of the transfer window.

As a result, Paul Onuachu is the only one among this trio where Southampton can try accelerating the exit talks. Still, that's not an easy transfer battle to be won when they are yet to reach common ground in front of their buying counterparts Trabzonspor.

Saints handed reality check that might ruin their transfer window

Plus, this conflicting valuation remains long after their club legend issued a rallying cry for them to steal a transfer march on Onuachu.

So, is there any solution in sight? Well, journalist Alfie House has addressed this topic saying: "Turkish reports suggesting Trabzonspor and Saints have reached an agreement for Paul Onuachu at €5million are not true. They are interested and negotiations are ongoing but Saints don't want to sell at that price and anticipate talks could rumble on for a while again."

Simply put, Southampton either needs a mammoth demand for Onuachu from any newly promoted Premier League outfits or loan moves will carry their leftover hopes again.

It's still early to say, but these constant transfer blows can force Southampton against recruiting any new goalscorers over the summer.
