Most Championship managers would love to have a full squad to work with during the international break, particularly with a team who appear to be turning a corner as Southampton seem to be.
No doubt, Tonda Eckert will relish the chance to have an extended period of time working with the likes of Léo Scienza, Caspar Jander, and Tom Fellows.
However, the paucity of international call-ups this Autumn highlights the lack of quality and strength in depth at Southampton. Some players are simply out of form. Take Damion Downs for example.
Downs was a regular in the USMNT squad until he signed for Southampton. Since arriving on the south coast his form has dropped like a stone and he has fallen out of favour with USMNT Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino. Downs will miss out again this November when the US play Paraguay and Uruguay.
A trio of Southampton internationals

Southampton trio, Gavin Bazunu, Ryan Manning and Finn Azaz will all represent the Republic of Ireland in two huge World Cup qualifiers this week. First they host Portugal, where defeat could see them out of contention by the time they visit Hungary on Sunday.
All three featured in Southampton's 3-1 home win against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. Azaz got his first goal for the Saints and Manning put in a much improved performance. Bazunu will be on a high too, having been recalled to the starting lineup by the Saints' interim coach, Tonda Eckert.
Jay Robinson has been called-up to the England under-19 squad for three UEFA U19 EURO qualifiers in Lithuania. Will Antwi's young lions will play the hosts, Latvia, and Scotland as they bid to qualify for the finals to be held in Wales next March.
Full-back Mads Roerslev has been named in the Denmark squad for their two World Cup qualifiers. If Roerslev is fit, after being withdrawn as a precaution on Saturday, he will join the team for matches against Belarus and Scotland.
Out of favour centre back, Joshua Quarshie will join the Germany U21's for matches against Malta and Georgia.
The truth staring Spors in the face

The lack of international recognition turns the spotlight back on to Sport Republic and the man leading on recruitment, Johannes Spors.
Spors has trawled inferior leagues for players and found a couple of gems. Both Léo Scienza and Caspar Jander have settled in really well in a struggling team.
However, the signing of Damion Downs overshadows the success of Scienza and Jander. Southampton are badly in need of a centre-forward who can lead the line and is a threat in the air. Since Ross Stewart picked up the latest in his long list of injuries, the lack of quality in that area has never been more obvious.
Spors has three prevailing issues to sort out. The first is to find and recruit a high quality manager, somebody who has achieved success in the Championship. The second, is to find an out and out centre-forward. The third is to recruit a decent goalkeeper. Neither Bazunu or Alex McCarthy are good enough and our best keeper is on loan at Newcastle!
This will be a busy international make-or-break for Spors.
