Southampton told to see bigger picture with Championship's breakthrough star

Southampton have been presented a major goalscoring flaw with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi which may lead them to stick with like-for-like profile Samuel Edozie beyond the summer.

Nowadays, Southampton fans know that getting a favourable transfer verdict on Sheffield United's Sydie Peck can save them from solving a lot of lineup puzzles, which is desirable, to say the least. Now, imagine if the Blades lost another select few starters over the summer, that would definitely weaken their top-two finish objectives, right?

On top of that, if Southampton are the ones luring those star performers then, who knows the Saints might outperform the competition like eventual winners Leeds did recently.

Yet, Southampton's best addition by far could only be Jesurun Rak-Sakyi who fits the ball of not having to endure a hardball negotiation against division mates Sheffield United.

Plus, even if the Saints are uncertain about their wide frontmen, Rak-Sakyi might fill gaps as a false nine which will be equally useful.

Rak-Sakyi has similar drawbacks as compared to Edozie

However, these over the top excitements are due a reality check as Mick Brown, who is renowned for having an eye for generational talents has found a massive flaw in Rak-Sakyi. In his own words, Football Insider quoted him saying: "If he couldn't play much of a role or make much of a difference in a side performing like they were, you have to ask questions about why."

Certainly, that will remind the Southampton fanbase about Samuel Edozie's slightly underperforming campaign two years ago. Similar to Rak-Sakyi, Edozie also got frequent minutes under his belt but was unable to convert them into a commendable scoring tally.

Agreed, Southampton are likely to back Edozie again but bringing another forward who shares nearly the same weaknesses as him won't give Still a better lineup flexibility.

Should Edozie get offloaded to make room for Rak-Sakyi is a different story, but again not trusting their own players can later prove to be a lamentable call for the Saints.
