Southampton fans gave a taunting present to Arsenal in the form of hilarious jibes to close out the previous Premier League season.

Two weeks ago, Southampton fans experienced joy in a stale 0-0 draw like they've never before. Yes, the euphoria of avoiding the Premier League's hall of shame.

And, as a side note, that even overshadowed the fact that Rusk's troops got the best Premier League team of this decade sweating for a goal. Agreed, Manchester City couldn't defend their long held English crown this time around, but sharing points with them is a matter of pride any day.

One, that could be boasted in front of any team, be it any Big Six heavyweight also. Southampton fans know this, and while they didn't remind City fans of their feat, they definitely ensured that Arsenal don't leave St. Mary's without a taunting gift.

St. Mary's turned out to be a taunt fest for Arsenal

So, while the Saints were running down the visitor's on-field patience, Southampton fans showered them with funny jibes.

In the words of Daily Echo's Alfie House, those were: "Saints fans chant "Tottenham Hotspur, they've won more than you," to the Arsenal supporters and players, followed by "Second again, allez allez."

Last week, Tottenham Hotspurs lifted the Europa League and a lot of the talking points were around Luke Shaw's continued European nightmare. Still, the Southampton crowd is one of the most positive bunch of fans and they found a teasing Arsenal message in that Spurs win rather than feeling helpless for Shaw.

Overall, as comical as this gesture may seem, Southampton have performed much better against the top half clubs as compared to their bottom half counterparts. With that being said, let's remain optimistic that Southampton do take routine wins against these elite clubs the next time they step in the Premier League.
