Southampton's dream wide attacker candidate Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has kicked-off the preseason duties on a strong note and the Saints are right to be left in awe.
Preseason football may be looked upon as irrelevant results but Southampton fans can't deny that the takeaways coming from it can leave a lasting impact on the respective forthcoming season. Before this afternoon, many Saints must have downplayed their Eastleigh competitors as a walk in the park victory and the bottom line was also a win, no doubt.
However, the whole ninety minutes, notably up until the final fifteen minutes was a sweating sight to behold. The home team were matching Southampton's intensity all game long and a defeat wasn't far away from the cards if not for two calm and composed strikes.
Simultaneously, don't you think the Saints wasted some brilliant second half attempts to put the game to bed early? Indeed, and if some of the fanbase switched to the Crystal Palace friendly in between, then, Saints wide attacking target Jesurun Rak-Sakyi must've caught their attention.
Although the 22-year-old wideman didn't receive the starting nod there, he did enough for his coach Oliver Glasner to take him into lineup consideration from the next occasion.
Rak-Sakyi might be the best Edozie replacement
Going by Sofascore's stats, the entire Palace outfit managed a single shot to test the opposing keeper and that was converted by Rak-Sakyi for their solitary game-winning goal.
Almost a month ago, Southampton were warned against Rak-Sakyi's poor final third output but the recent signs suggest he might be worth for the Saints to even sanction Samuel Edozie's departure.
Plus, the Scottish Sun have indicated that a £10m asking price may do the job which turns up to be conveniently within the transfer funds raised from any Edozie swoop. Inspite of that, pulling off this entire double deal will represent a top-notch piece of front three business and let's see whether the Southampton fans get to laud their board with these plaudits.
