Shea Charles expresses excitement ahead of sharing the pitch in the Championship again with teammate Samuel Edozie.

Recently, Southampton fans heard the first preseason update and with Aribo's future uncertain, it must have discomforted them. But touchwood, while their off-field issues linger, the supporters would be satisfied with the first team visuals under Still so far.

With a respected figure in Adam Lallana continuing, and leading a young Saints squad alongside Still, St. Mary's will be content given how the club feels returning to its golden days.

Well, the next update in this regard would please the fans even more on how eager the young Saints are to turn heads in the Championship.

Recently, loan returnee Shea Charles stood as a perfect example of this spirit as he talked of acing the second division with his former teammate Samuel Edozie.

As quoted by the Daily Echo, Shea Charles mentioned: "I've known Sam (Edozie) for ages, so it's easier to come back in and settle in. (I know) all the boys from when we got promoted last time. All the boys are sound, so it's been good."

Shea Charles-Edozie duo could be key to Southampton's promotion

In case you remember, the Shea Charles-Samuel Edozie duo has been an underrated combo that aced Southampton's 23/24 Championship promotion. With Charles holding the midfield and Edozie piling up goals, the prodigies ended up the season as one of the club's best finds.

Needless to say, they will want to replicate it again as they combine on the back of sensational individual loan spells. And what better than that they both have a point to prove this time?

In case you remember, Charles was deemed below the Premier League level by transfer correspondent George Bailey days ago. Interestingly, Edozie's case has been far more serious as he is being doubted by Saints fans themselves.

Clearly, it's a perfectly set-up once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Charles and Edozie to shut down the critics against them. And for Southampton, they will be all smiling given the duo's success route passes through their promotion.
