Southampton had kept tabs on Coventry playmaker Jack Rudoni for months, but their transfer dreams are set to fall apart as the side has been warned against selling him.
Recently, Saints fans became aware of Man United's interest in Gueye, and while a reaction remains subjective, this update should reassure the supporters on a positive collective note. And that's for a quick resolution on transfer deals, unlike the prolonged ones, which even extend till now.
But while there have been quite such scenarios recently, Saints fans' eagerness on one player's saga tops the chart.
Undoubtedly, that's been on Coventry star Jack Rudoni, for whom Southampton fans were ready to break the bank. Well, that previous excitement may have cooled with Mateus Fernandes' confirmed stay, but still, there would hardly be a fan who won't love seeing Rudoni in Saints' ranks.
Guess what? Those wishes feel likely to end up as mere dreams, as Coventry has been given a strict reprimand against Rudoni's potential sale.
Jack Rudoni's move failure will recall fans of Fellows' transfer case
Recently, speaking to Football League World, pundit Don Goodman put a roadblock to any ongoing Jack Rudoni to Saints rumours, saying: "I like him very much as a player, and I do think Coventry are very ambitious for this season, so I'd be very shocked if they allowed him to leave."
Needless to say, this Coventry advice comes as a major setback for Southampton's plans, yet it wouldn't wound them the most. That's because of having gone through a similar failed pursuit in ambitious scouting of Tom Fellows last year.
Just like Rudoni, Fellows, too, was coming on the back of an exceptional Championship playoff season when the Saints took notice of him. But while Southampton lost Fellows even after offering a fair transfer valuation, it feels like Rudoni's case wouldn't even reach that stage, felling off before.
Honestly, having been cost by Coventry, not once but twice, Frank Lampard's side straightaway gets added to the Saints fans' avenging list. Let's hope Will Still and his side do the job, sending Coventry to the perfect Christmas Eve break.
